Sounds simple enough. Go around your house and note any problem areas where it is easy to break in. Are there broken locks on any doors or windows? Get these fixed. All you need to do for your own system is to make sure that all of your smoke detectors are working properly, and that batteries are changed at least once per year. Do you want to have motion sensor lights near the garage? Where do you think that a camera would work best?
